The smell of sugar assails me. It's power draws me forward. I can feel it's assault on my senses, making me want some of everything in the showcase. When I look into the showcase I see that some things are not appealing, despite the scent. Green icing would never be my choice on anything. Icing is best when pale and soft. There's a lot of chocolate and things in many shapes.

"Can I help you, Ma'am?"

"Not yet. I'm trying to decide but I will need a box to hold what I choose."

"I'll get that ready for you, Ma'am." The clerk smiled but in my head I was asking 'Am I old enough to be called Ma'am? It sounded…
