The Order
Carla bundled up in her heavy parka, insulated boots, slipped on gloves and her toque before pulling the hood over and cinching it tight. She didn’t normally like to go out in such terrible conditions but she made a special exception that day. She was an older woman whose husband passed away two winters before, her children all lived in different cities, and she mostly kept to herself since he died. If her kids knew she was about to head out in inclement weather, they would have a fit, fearing she would fall and not be found until it was too late. There was no way she was ever going to tell them about her excursion.
