24. Will of the River
Take life as it comes
Just go with the flow
Make the best of it all
Without need to know
Decisions are made
By focused attention
What choices you face
Life and nature’s invention
If obstacles present
Go around or go through
It’s the will of the river
It’s what you do, too.

Will of the River
-
Look at you, with hair as wild as the wind
And a voice that could calm the fallen angels.
Where did you come from, I wonder, with so much disciplined
And a mind meant to be free and without parallels.
With eyes like those midnight forests
Of ages and ages past, the history of lands we don’t know,
Your beauty is unparalleled, your actions and words the manifests
Of the will of the river and its flow.
It can be a wild ride, friend of mine,
Tumultuous amidst the white-crested water of younger mans days,
Or a soft and relaxing float in the arms of a brook, clear-as-water-is-fine;
But I know that this is only…
Will of the River
Like the ice breaks
On the river in spring
So too your heart aches
No longer does it sing
Warm weather, waters wake
To nothing the pieces cling
Scattering, there is no brake
No point in following, you think
Do not despair
This is not the end
There’s a chance for repair
The flowing water is your friend
The river has a purpose, a plan
Do not fret, do not quiver
One day, again, you will stand
Trust in the will of the river
