Encroachment

-

Who are you, and why have you come

To bother me with your words and blathering tongue?

I care not for the things you have to say,

Your encroachment on this, my day!

Don't think you have the right to say how it is your way,

For in amongst these wilds and woods

Your words will only lead you astray;

Down a bough-tickled path towards no good -

I would say sorry, but such words mean nothing and more,

For they were the words last uttered, as I say,

Show me the love that once welcomed me through your door -

Ah, but you can't, for time has come-and-gone from that day.

I ask again, who are you,…

April 18th – Encroachment

Cities creep, their boundaries spreading outward

To encompass surrounding areas.

Homes, once farms, now urban.

Forests, once full, now cut down

To make those homes, rebuilt

Upon land where they once grew.

Ironic.

Natured flattened, leveled, driven out of its own home

As humankind, not so kind, takes over.

Companies touting progress and success

Dig mountain tops away – millions of years

In the making, gone in no time – flat.

Ignorant.

The world continues to support its burgeoning population

On a planet with limited and unrenewable resources.

Depleted.

Extinction.

Advancement.

Encroachment.

Encroachment

Construction next door

New garage and fence

Must be nice not to be poor

Hate I’m jealous over dollars and cents

New structure erected

It all looks fine

Not the design I would have selected

Could really use some wine

Looking at my yard

Smaller than it used to be

My property has been marred

Sure he would disagree

Thought about letting it be

Find common ground

But he found issue with my tree

Made me chop it down

This means war

What else could I do?

Encroachment is going too far

For that I will sue
