Young Writers Initiatives

Visit our WRITING ROCKS TAB for updates on our young writers initiatives. Our meeting group is still in the developmental stages but if you are interested please contact us - you could help write WFSC Young Writer's history!

Meeting times are set for the first Tuesday of every month from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

in the BIRCH Room, 2nd Floor New STRATHCONA COUNTY LIBRARY, Community Centre, 401 Festival Lane

The Young Writers Group - Writing Rocks! - will operate under the guidance of established WFSC members.  Do you have a passion for words? Are you eager to work on developing your writing skills? Do you want to push your creativity? We will mentor young writers and provide positive encouragement in creative writing projects. If the group is interested in learning how to run their own meetings, we will help set up protocol and suggest content to make this a positive writing experience. Parental permission is required for young writers (13 - 16 years).

NOTE: Older teen writers (16+) are welcome to attend the regular Writer's Circle meeting to follow at 7:00 pm

If you would like a WFSC membership:

Student Membership fees are only $10. Additional fees will apply if workshops, speakers or one-on-one sessions are requested.

The WFSC and its mentors will not provide editing or reading services on school-related projects. We will offer direction and open a discussion on projects so the student gains a personal perspective on their own abilities  as a writer and develops their own creative writing style and voice.

Many of the members of the WFSC have been published; many have been or are teachers; some write for their professions; ALL HAVE A PASSION FOR THE WRITTEN WORD and support community efforts to involve youth in cultural arts programs.

For more information send us an email attention: Young Writers Coordinator to wfscsherwoodpark@hotmail.com or use the "contact us" form on our web site. We look forward to hearing from you!

Keep on writing because ...
