Celebrating 10 Years
WFSC Limited Edition Calendar - 2015
Celebrating 10 years of Writing Our Dreams
In March of 2005, the Writers Foundation of Strathcona County (WFSC) was incorporated in Alberta under the Societies Act. We’ve come a long way since the filling and filing of those official documents - hardly the creative writing pursuit, but a necessary one, nonetheless.
Over the course of its development, the WFSC objective was to support local literary arts and provide opportunity for local writers - it is a vision we still maintain in the Strathcona County cultural community. The idea began as a dream for six original members of the Writers Circle who could see more than just a monthly meeting to share writing. Although that is still a very important component of the Foundation, it became so much more.
This calendar commemorates our 10th year with a tribute to all that we have done, yet with a vision for all we intend to do - there is so much more ahead. As we embrace the changes in our world, and the changes in our membership and community, we accept that our mission will never change. We still provide support for writers - any age, any stage of their writing career.
Although this publication is in calendar format, the content will never go out of date - only down in history! Check out our passion and purpose and help support our efforts as we continue promoting the literary arts as part of a larger cultural community in Strathcona County.
As we celebrate our achievements, we want to say thanks to anyone and everyone who contributed in any way over the course of our journey. It does not happen without hard work and dedication, but it does happen from a “solitary drop” like the ripples in a pool of water reaching out from that central point. We would specifically like to acknowledge our volunteers - current and past members, and our working board of directors.
Together, we can continue to make a culturally strong community. Thank you.
Our mandate is to support writers - any age, any stage of their writing career. You can help us by being a WFSC sponsor. Money raised by our non-profit organization is channeled back into the community, not only for the benefit of our own members, but for the benefit of all those who love the written word.
